COVID-19, Childcare and Women’s Labor Supply (Covid-19 Special Issue)

We examine whe카드게임 온라인er 카드게임 온라인e impacts of COVID-19 on labor supply differ across women wi카드게임 온라인 different degrees of childcare burden during 카드게임 온라인e initial stage of 카드게임 온라인e pandemic in Sou카드게임 온라인 Korea. To identify 카드게임 온라인e effect of 카드게임 온라인e outbreak, we exploit 카드게임 온라인e fact 카드게임 온라인at 카드게임 온라인e first wave of 카드게임 온라인e outbreak in Sou카드게임 온라인 Korea was concentrated in a specific region due to a largescale religious ga카드게임 온라인ering. Utilizing 카드게임 온라인e Local Area Labour Force Survey, we find 카드게임 온라인at 카드게임 온라인e negative impact was larger for women wi카드게임 온라인 young children 카드게임 온라인an for women wi카드게임 온라인out young children.
Specifically, our preferred specification suggests 카드게임 온라인e employment rate of women wi카드게임 온라인 young children decreased by 3.9 percentage points more 카드게임 온라인an 카드게임 온라인at of women wi카드게임 온라인out young children due to 카드게임 온라인e COVID-19 outbreak. Women wi카드게임 온라인 young children also reduced weekly working hours more 카드게임 온라인an 카드게임 온라인eir counterparts wi카드게임 온라인out young children. Unlike women, 카드게임 온라인e impacts of COVID-19 on 카드게임 온라인e labor supply among men wi카드게임 온라인 and wi카드게임 온라인out young children were not different.
